Perfect Weekend

With a good book on one hand and great music on the other hand, I'm all set to a new great adventure.

Isabella & Edgar Sawtelle

Isabella, a woman of grace and confident.

I don't know if the Isabella that I've read about is true or not but some said that the book was based on a true story. Wallahualam. But If it's true, then Alhamdulillah.

I've been searching for a book called Isabella: A Girl of Muslim Spain in Kinokuniya, KLCC but to no vail, they have ever had any record of it. i've not yet try any of MPH bookstroes. Hopefully they got one.

I've read this book actually the e-book version. You can download it here. This book makes me fall in love with Umar Lahmi and adore the gracefullness of Isabella. Read it first then you will know what i felt.

even tho i can download and print it. i still want the real book to add in my collections and this will be one of my favourites.

the second book that i'm searching is The Story of Edgar Sawtelle by David Wroblewski. i read many reviews about this book and mostly are very good ones. Unfortunately for me, the book has no stock in Kinokuniya and have to wait for 2 weeks or more. got to try MPH or Borders. hopefully they have it. Hopping this book won't disappoint me.

Al Haram Al Sharif di Baitulmaqdis

Baitulmuqaddis juga dieja sebagai Baitulmaqdis atau Jerusalem (Ibrani: יְרוּשָׁלַיִם Yerushalayim; Arab: القدس al-Quds; lihat juga nama-nama Baitulmuqaddis) ialah sebuah kota lama yang terletak di Timur Tengah. Baitulmuqaddis memainkan peranan penting bagi agama Islam, Kristian, dan Yahudi. Ia merupakan kota paling suci bagi agama Kristian dan Yahudi dan tempat ketiga paling suci dalam Islam.

Baitulmuqaddis ialah sebuah kota yang kaya dengan tamadun dan budaya. "Kota Lama" Baitulmuqaddis (juga dikenali sebagai Baitulmuqaddis Timur') dikelilingi dengan tembok yang dibina sejak kurun ke-15 lagi. Kota lama ini terbahagi kepada empat kawasan: Islam, Kristian, Yahudi, dan Armenia.

Kedudukan kota ini hangat diperkatakan. Perjanjian yang ditandatangani pada tahun 1949 di antara Israel dan Jordan menyebabkan kota ini terbahagi kepada dua. Baitulmuqaddis Barat menjadi milik Israel manakala Baitulmuqaddis Timur (Kota Lama) menjadi milik Jordan. Sejak kemenangan Israel pada perang tahun 1967, Israel menguasai kesuluruhan kota tersebut dan menuntut hak kedaulatan undang-undang terhadap Baitulmuqaddis. Israel ingin menjadikan Baitulmuqaddis sebagai ibu negaranya tetapi ini tidak dipersetujui oleh majoriti negara di seluruh dunia. Palestin juga menuntut supaya kesuluruhan Baitulmuqaddis ataupun sebahagian daripadanya yakni Baitulmuqaddis Timur menjadi ibu negaranya.

Sejarah Baitulmuqaddis boleh dikategorikan kepada lima tahap; Zaman Kuno, Zaman Pemerintahan Empayar Rom, Zaman Islam, Zaman Mandat British, dan Zaman Pendudukan Israel

Menurut orientalis Barat, Baitulmuqaddis mula menjadi tumpuan selepas Nabi Daud a.s. menakluk Baitulmuqaddis daripada masyarakat yang bernama Jebusite. Nabi Daud a.s. kemudiannya dikatakan mula mengembangkan kota ini dan menjadikannya ibu kota kerajaannya. Baitulmuqaddis kemudian dikatakan diperintah oleh Nabi Sulaiman a.s.. Mengikut ahli sejarah Yahudi, Nabi Sulaiman a.s. telah membina sebuah kuil yang diberi nama Solomon's Temple (Kuil Sulaiman).

Tidak lama kemudian tentera Babylon mula menguasai Baitulmuqaddis daripada orang Yahudi. Nebuchadnezzar, raja Babylon kemudiannya menakluk Baitulmuqaddis dan memusnahkan Solomon's Temple. Dia kemudiannya menghalau orang Yahudi daripada Baitulmuqaddis. Selepas beberapa dekad, tentera Parsi menakluk Babylon. Cyrus II, raja Parsi membenarkan orang Yahudi kembali ke Baitulmuqaddis dan membina semula kuil mereka. Kuil Kedua kemudiannya dibina oleh Herod the Great tetapi selepas kematiannya, kota ini jatuh ke tangan Rom.

Semasa pemerintahan Rom, masyarakat Yahudi di Baitulmuqaddis memberontak. Akibatnya tentera Rom mematahkan pemberontakan tersebut dan memusnahkan Kuil Kedua orang Yahudi. Yang tinggal hanyalah sebahagian daripada kuil itu yang dikenali sebagai Tembok Barat.

Selepas pemberontakan tersebut, orang Yahudi dibenarkan tinggal di situ tetapi dalam jumlah yang kecil. Pada kurun kedua, Maharaja Rom memerintahkan supaya Baitulmuqaddis dibina semula dan membina sebuah kuil orang Rom di situ sambil menghalang kegiatan keagamaan orang Yahudi. Orang Yahudi kembali memberontak tetapi berjaya dipatahkan tentera Rom. Baitulmuqaddis dinamakan semula menjadi Aelia Capitolina.

Orang Yahudi dilarang memasuki Baitulmuqaddis. Selama 150 tahun selepas itu, kota ini menjadi tidak penting bagi kerajaan Rom. Namun demikian, Maharaja Byzantine iaitu Constantine membina Baitulmuqaddis sebagai pusat keagamaan Kristian dengan membina Church of the Holy Sepulcher pada tahun 335 masihi. Orang Yahudi tetap tidak dibenarkan memasuki Baitulmuqaddis kecuali semasa pemerintahan singkat Empayar Parsi pada tahun 614 hingga tahun 629.

Walaupun Al Quran tidak menyebut mengenai nama "Baitulmuqaddis" tetapi hadith ada menyebut mengenainya. Menurut hadith sahih, adalah di Baitulmuqaddis Nabi Muhammad s.a.w. naik ke syurga semasa peristiwa Israk Mikraj. Kota itu kemudiannya ditawan oleh angkatan tentera Islam pada tahun 638 masihi. Saidina Umar Al-Khatab secara peribadi pergi ke Baitulmuqaddis untuk menerima penyerahan Baitulmuqaddis kepada kerajaan Islam. Beliau seterusnya ditawarkan bersembahyang di dalam Church of the Holy Sepulcher tetapi menolaknya dan sebaliknya meminta supaya dibawa ke Masjidil Aqsa Al Haram Al Sharif. Beliau mendapati tempat itu terlalu kotor dan mengarahkan supaya pembersihan dijalankan. Beliau kemudiannya membina sebuah masjid kayu di tempat yang sekarang merupakan kompleks bangunan Masjid Al Aqsa.

Enam tahun kemudian, Qubbat As-Sakhrah dibina. Struktur ini terdiri daripada sebuah batu yang dikatakan tempat Nabi Muhammad s.a.w. berdiri sebelum naik ke syurga semasa peristiwa Israk Mikraj. Perlu diingatkan bahawa kubah yang bersalut emas dan berbentuk oktagon ini tidak sama seperti Masjid Al Aqsa di sebelahnya yang dibina tidak lama kemudian. Semasa pemerintahan awal Islam, terutamanya semasa pemerintahan kerajaan Ummaiyyah (650-750) dan kerajaan Abbasiyyah (750-969), kota Baitulmuqaddis berkembang. Ramai orang berpendapat Baitulmuqaddis pada ketika itu merupakan tanah yang paling subur di Palestin.

Pemerintahan awal Islam juga mewujudkan sebuah tolenrasi di antara kaum. Namun semasa pemerintahan Al-Hakim Amr Allah, seorang khalifah kerajaan Fatimiyyah, beliau mengarahkan supaya semua gereja dan rumah ibadat bukan Islam dimusnahkan. Hal ini menyebabkan berlakunya Perang Salib. Pada tahun 1099, tentera Kristian Eropah menakluk Baitulmuqaddis. Mereka kemudiannya membunuh kesemua penduduk bukan Kristian yakni Muslim dan Yahudi.

Baitulmuqaddis kemudian dijadikan ibu kota Kerajaan Kristian Baitulmuqaddis (Kingdom of Jerusalem). Kerajaan ini kekal sehingga tahun 1291; Baitulmuqaddis sendiri ditawan oleh Salahuddin Al Ayubi pada tahun 1187. Salahuddin juga membenarkan semua orang beribadat di Baitulmuqaddis tidak kira sama ada Kristian, Muslim atau Yahudi. Pada tahun 1243, Baitulmuqaddis jatuh kembali ke tangan orang Kristian sebelum jatuh kembali ke tangan orang Islam pada tahun berikutnya.

Pada tahun 1517, Baitulmuqaddis ditawan oleh Empayar Turki Uthmaniyyah. Sulaiman Al Qanuni membina semula tembok Baitulmuqaddis yang dapat kita lihat sehingga ke hari ini.

British berjaya menewaskan Empayar Turki Uthmaniyyah semasa Perang Dunia I. Dengan kemenangan mereka itu, tentera British di Mesir memasuki Baitulmuqaddis pada 11 Disember 1917. Pihak British kemudiannya membina rumah-rumah baru di sini dan menyebabkan Baitulmuqaddis berkembang sehingga luar daripada temboknya. Pemerintahan British menandakan bermulanya suasana kelam kabut di sini. Pendatang-pendatang Yahudi yang mendapat perhatian daripada kerajaan British menyebabkan orang Islam amnya dan orang Arab khususnya mendapat layanan yang tidak adil. Keganasan ini terus meningkat sepanjang tahun 1930-an dan 1940-an.

Pada 29 November 1947, Perhimpunan Agung Pertubuhan Bangsa-Bangsa Bersatu (UNGA) meluluskan satu pelan untuk memisahkan Pentadbiran Mandat British di Palestin kepada dua buah negeri: satu untuk orang Yahudi, satu untuk orang Arab. Hal ini mengakibatkan berlaku pemberontakan di Baitulmuqaddis yang kemudiannya menyebabkan Perang Arab-Israel 1948 berlaku selepas pemerintahan Mandat British berakhir.

Semasa Perang Arab-Israel 1948, Baitulmuqaddis terbahagi kepada dua. Bahagian baratnya yang meliputi bandar baru menjadi sebahagian daripada Israel manakala Bahagian timurnya termasuklah kota lama Baitulmuqaddis menjadi milik Jordan.

PBB mencadangkan supaya Baitulmuqaddis berada di bawah pentadbiran antarabangsa. Walau bagaimanapun, pada 23 Januari 1950, Parlimen Israel meluluskan satu resolusi untuk menjadikan Baitulmuqaddis sebagai ibu negara Israel. Baitulmuqaddis Timur kemudiannya ditawan oleh tentera Israel dalam Perang Enam Hari pada tahun 1967.

Walaupun Israel membenarkan penganut agama di Baitulmuqaddis akses ke tempat suci mereka, terdapat banyak kerisauan mengenai beberapa serangan ke atas Masjid Al-Aqsa seperti kebakaran pada tahun 1969 yang disebabkan oleh seorang pelancong Australia yang gila. Status Baitulmuqaddis Timur tetap menjadi satu isu yang kontroversi.

Menurut satu pelan PBB, Baitulmuqaddis sepatutnya menjadi sebuah bandaraya antarabangsa dan bukan sebahagian daripada negeri orang Arab ataupun negeri orang Yahudi. Sempena Perang Arab-Israel 1948, Baitulmuqaddis Barat diduduki oleh Israel manakala Baitulmuqaddis Timur menjadi milik Jordan.

Pada tahun 1967, semasa Perang Enam Hari, Israel menawan Baitulmuqaddis Timur dan mula mengambil langkah untuk menyatukan Baitulmuqaddis di bawah penguasaan Israel. Pada tahun 1988 Jordan menarik balik semua tuntutannya ke atas Tebing Barat (termasuklah Baitulmuqaddis) bagi menyokong Pertubuhan Pembebasan Palestin (PLO).

Kedudukan Baitulmuqaddis masih lagi tidak terjawab.

The Day I'm Glad that I'm Still Working with Sony

The title said it all. why? because last year was Sony's 20th Anniversary. as an appreciation to its staff, they giving us a present. yeay!! i love free stuff. =D. we can choose either Dvd player or Walkman Mp3.

i choose the latter one. sebab mp3 tu lagi mahal. heheh... sape nak brg murah kan even tho dpt free. still nak yang mahal nyer. huhu...

As I reached home around 9pm, papa with his mulut muncung ke depan face said

"Nape balik lambat sangat?"

papa knows that i love the ayam madu yang dijual depan Giant Setiawangsa. sangat sangat sedap. now, almost everyweek papa buy it. and papa skarang kuat betul majuk lah. kalah I majuk.

Sleepy

Slept for on 3 hours.

It's only 8.15 am but i'm already sleepy.

Lesson from Papa

Last night, as i was watching the telly with papa, there was an advertisement on Oprah and it show 8 pm Central/ 9 pm Eastern. the time when the Oprah Show will be aired. errmm.. i think the other way round kot. i'm not sure.

anyway, I asked papa what's Central. What's Eastern. Papa answered Eastern is like the New York side. Eastern side of USA map, while central is like Chicago. my geography of the states is damn poor. =((

and he did. a very long story on the history of latitude and longitude. i will try to eplain as brief as possible. ;)

latitude they will know from a star called Polaris. Polaris is only if they were in the northern Side Hemisphere. In southern, they look for Southern Cross because it will point to south. i still don't know how they do it actually. the 4 stars pointing towards south? hhmmm... If you look at the Australian and New Zealand flag, it has the Southern Cross.

When Polaris is on top of your head means that you are right in the middle of the North Pole, there they will count as the starting point and the Equator is the limit line. the sailor will search for Polaris and from there they can locate where they are.

next, the longitude.

longitude depends on time. that's when after the time was invented. before that, they won't know actually how far they had went (based on longitude). that's why if you look at the old old map (eg Cheng Ho map), you will see that the map is so long (that's what papa said lah)


From Prime Meridian which is in Greenwich until the International Dateline, it's 180 degree. let just put it this way, 360 degree = 24 hours. so 180 degree = 12 hour. then 1 hour = 15 degree.

if they know the place or which country they're at, then they will refer to the timeline. hence they will know where are there in longitude.


Actually i got more knowledge from papa last night but this one about the stars are the most interesting one. me like it!!

we've talked about pole shift a little, the difference between Israelis and Arabic, and also the Hindustani movie "Bobby". at that time, the movie was aired in channel 808 and i only watch it for 10 minutes. hehe...

New Year, New Blog

AdAkah terlambat untuk diri ini memulakan azam baru? i don't think so. let me list down what are my resolution this year. I never done this before. Ever. never had a resolutions because it's hard to follow. i better start now:

My Resolutions

1. mula dengan menabung setiap hari. menabung as in letak duit dlm tabung dan tidak akan menyentuh duit itu. setiap hari, akan ku tabung RM2. so mulai 1 january 2009, dalam tabung saya ada RM10 to-date.
2. promise myself to keep my room and closet neat throughout the year. every morning before off to work, i will make my bed even if i'm late to work. for my closet, i will keep it as organize as possible. currently, i keep my closet in colour order. seriusly, all my baju kurung, kebaya, are well kept in colour order. as well as my t-shirt. for habuk-free, susah wey. habuk tiap ari mesti ade. unless if I lap it everyday.
   
3. lose weight. oh, i know it's so cliche like the rest of the ladies but well, we are ladies and we do share lots of things. lose weight is one of them. currently without a shame, i'm weighted 52kg. (yer, aku sangat berat dengan ketinggian aku yang hanya 152cm. berapa feet and inch ek?). my target weight is going to be 45kg. kalo dapat lagi rendah adalah bonus bagi ku ;P
4. remember to take the primrose oil tablets everyday.

that's all folks. hopefully i will do it all. Insyaallah. pray for me yek ;)

P/S: One of my friend say "Hope is the first step of Dissapointment". I wonder if it's true.

Moving On

kenapa manusia tidak pernah untuk berfikir dulu untuk berkata-kata. pandai cakap sahaja bak mementingkan diri sendiri. hati dan perasaan orang lain ibarat benda tidak penting.

on the other hand, now i understand why we as muslim should hate Yahudi, not the bangsa but the agama. Agama Yahudi. selain daripada ape yang mereka telah lakukan terhadap palestine.

Papa sudah dijangkiti ketagihan yang dibawa oleh anak perempuan kesayangannya.

A few days ago, as usual, i stopped by at the Starbucks, AEON JJ AU2 Setiawangsa to buy my favourite frappuccino, Toffee Nut. i didn't notice that at that time Starbuck is doing a promotion which is buy one free one whenever you buy these three range; Dark Cherry, Toffee Nut Frap or Toffee Nut Latte. so the cashier gave me a grande Dark Cherry. i never like Dark Cherry because ia sangat pahit. Mama doesn't like it either but papa loves it. seriuosly he really really loves it. silap, bukan loves but addicted to it.

you know how i know it? okey okey. let me tell you this story which happened just around 1 hour ago.

while i was happily watching Oprah marathon which is now airing in Hallmark, oh btw, i love to watch THe Oprah Show if the episode is not the serius/tragic one. back to the story, while watching it alone, then papa join me with intention. Yes, he tried to pujuk me to buy the starbuck coffee that i bought to him before. i said to papa, belilah esok. but papa nak malam ni gak. adei...

pada waktu itu, jam menunjukkan pukul 9.30 malam. and yes, i'm wearing my nightie as papa refer to it and i'm so lazy to change it all. jadi, I mengeluarkan segala hujah untuk tidak mahu membeli itu coffee dan sebagai anak perempuan kesayangan, papa menyetujui segala hujah-hujahan itu. jadi papa suruh the 3rd son, Ayo Poyo. yup, itu nickname nye. actually it's Ayo only but i like to add Poyo behind. ;P

well, he also telah mengeluarkan hujah-hujah nya untuk tidak mahu pegi keluar untuk membeli, so last resort, the 2nd son, Ija. Ija ni jenis tidak suke mengeluarkan hujah-hujah so die hanya menurut perintah. tapi dengan bersyarat, i have to follow. aarrgghhh!! penat jer kuarkan hujah, last last, kena tukar baju gak. cet...

so me and my 2nd bro pegi lah membeli.

as i enter, one of the cashierman saw me and terus jerit,

"akaaakkkkk!!!!"

and i just smile and malu2 because kantoi ngan Ija slalu pegi itu kedai.

"wah, dah kenal nampak. ni confirm die ni slalu datang kan. tiap2 ari ke die ni datang?"

hehe... i ignore my bro and terus chit chat with the cashierman.

"lame tak nampak akak. mane akak pegi?"

"saya ade dtg aritu just ade girl yg on duty, btul x?"

"akak takde tak best lah. hidup tak bermakna tanpa kedatangan akak"

"yelah tu..."

pandai bdk ittu bermain kate. manis sungguh mulut die yek.

i'm officially the regular/grande customer at Starbuck AEON JJ AU2 Setiawangsa. malu gak lah coz dari jauh die dah jerit wey. siap berborak2 lagi tau. dah lah ade orang beratur kat belakang. hehe...

as of now, i will not step foot in that starbuck for a month. if i can lah. hehe...

oh, btw we bought 5 grande coffee for each of the family. dibelanja oleh my papa. thanks papa!!! boleh lah buat slalu yek. jimat skit duit I. =P.

ija said kat US one grande coffee hanya berharga 3 dollar. kat sini, RM14.70. sungguh jauh beza.

Hello 2009. Welcome and I wish you well. Hope you and I will lead a whole new year ahead of us. No turning back.
I guess i will start to write now but unfortunately not here but in my diary. been a while since i last wrote anything in it. i wrote mostly my personal thoughts and feelings that i can't share with anyone. i will still tho write in this blog if i got something to share with.

I'm opening a new book. hopefully this new year will bring more happy ending and less drama.

Everything happened for a reason. there were some memories that i wish it did not happen but it did and i thank Allah for that. It made who I am today.
