I Told You So

I've been a fan of Carrie Underwood since she was in the Idol. Fell for her when she sang Alone by Heart. Totally awesome. still now she keep on improving and improving. When she sang I Told You So with Randy Travis, she just blew me away. Again. Since before, she never outshine anyone on stage. will always try to harmonize with the person she sang with. that's what make her a great artist. can hear notes well too. i'm tone deaf btw, huhuhu...

got this debate between Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift. Vocally, Carrie by far because Taylor can't sing live. but lyrically, love Taylor's songs. she's damn good in writing songs. My favourite at the moment is White Horse. many said that that song was written because of her break-up with that Jonas Bro but i'm not sure of that.

Say you're sorry
That face of an angel comes out
Just when you need it to
As I pace back and forth all this time
'Cause
I honestly believed in you
Holdin' on,
The days drag on
Stupid girl
I should have known, I should have known

That I'm not a princess
This ain't a fairytale
I'm not the one you'll sweep off her feet
Lead her up the stairwell
This ain't Hollywood,
This is a small town
I was a dreamer before you went and let me down
Now its too late for you and your White Horse,
To come around.

Maybe I was naïve,
Got lost in your eyes
I never really had a chance.
My mistake, I didn't know to be in love you had to fight to have the upperhand.
I had so many dreams about you and me.
Happy endings;
Now I know

I'm not a princess
This ain't a fairytale
I'm not the one you'll sweep off her feet
Lead her up the stairwell
This ain't Hollywood,
This is a small town
I was a dreamer before you went and let me down.
Now its too late for you and your White Horse,
To come around.

And there you are on your knees
Begging for forgiveness,
Begging for me
Just like I always wanted,
But I'm so sorry

Cause Im not your princess
This aint a fairytale
Im gonna find someone, Some day
Who might actually treat me well.
This is a big world,
That was a small town
There in my rearview mirror,
Disappearing now.
And it's too late for you and your White Horse,
Now its too late for you and your White Horse
To catch me now.

Oh whoa whoa whoa-oh
Try and catch me now
Whoa-Oh
It's too late
To catch me now.

-White Horse by Taylor Swift-

It is just me or i'm getting emotional as my age increasing. =P

Papa's On the News

Sudan president’s Malaysian links
By Sheila Rahman March 10, 2009 Categories: News

FROM Darfur in Sudan to Datuk Keramat in Kuala Lumpur, it’s a paradoxical picture of a man who has impacted lives in quite opposite ways.

The “war criminal” tag on Omar Hassan al-Bashir, the President of Sudan, doesn’t quite gel with that of the “Col Omer Hassan Ahmed” who attended the Malaysian Armed Forces Staff College (Haigate) in 1983, and who thereafter made it a point to meet up with his former colleagues whenever he visited Malaysia.

And, that has been at least five times since he came to power in 1989.

In fact, his “brothers in the armed forces” do not register him as anything else other than the “unpretentious gentleman and officer” who made an impression on them with his “unfussy” ways despite being a colonel, the highest ranking of them all.

Lt Kol (rtd) Mohd Idris Hassan, who was at Haigate the same time as Omar, pointed out to Malay Mail the latter’s profile in the 1983 Hikmat magazine (the publication of the Malaysian Armed Forces Staff College – page 50).

It reads: “Affectionately known as ‘Col Boyo Manggo’ because he likes crocodiles and mangoes. Aspires to be the next president of Sudan and contemplates engaging Mej Yusop Hussin as his military adviser to implement Kesban (Keselamatan dan Bangunan – Security and Development) projects in his country.”

Omar had attended a one year diploma course at Haigate on defence and strategic matters tailored for those earmarked for higher command in the armed forces. He was promoted from Lt Col to Colonel midway through the course attended by 117 officers, 16 of whom were from abroad, including the United States, United Kingdom and Australia.

Idris, who was in a different “tutorial” group from Omar (Syndicate 8), remembered him as a quiet, “quick-to-smile” person who would attend functions in his traditional Sudanese jubah and turban.
This ankle-length white garb on a big-built Omar also made him noticeable as someone who never missed his Friday prayers at the mosque.

“I was not that close to him but once had the opportunity to sit in his 1970 Volkswagen which he said he liked driving because it didn’t need water and was easy to maintain. We were both motoring enthusiasts,” recalled Idris, who was from the Royal Malay Regiment.

Omar’s closer friend, as mentioned in Hikmat magazine, was Kol (rtd) Yusop Hussin, commandant of the Royal Military College in 1995, after which he took optional retirement and joined Guthrie Bhd as a director, a position he held for 10 years.

“It is very sad,” said Yusop, in reference to the situation Omar is facing now, describing the latter as a “fine man who possessed an emotional touch” with friends.

“A rare person indeed; he didn’t smoke or drink and was not fussy in any way, adapting to simple living conditions… he is not one to pretend and I will say ‘he is what he is’.”

Yusop couldn’t recall when he last saw Omar but believed it was sometime around 2002 when the latter had attended the Langkawi International Dialogue.

As for the Kesban projects mentioned in the magazine, Yusop explained that the college conducted a course on this and that Malaysia was a world authority on the matter.

“Omar was impressed with the manner in which we had managed the Emergency with our ‘winning of hearts’ strategy,” said Yusop, who in turn was impressed by the fact that Omar was the Sudan Parachute Regiment Commander.

“It’s no easy task; while in other categories of the services I dare say one can find a way out, there is no pretending when it comes to parachute jumps. Every jump is a new one… and becomes increasingly harder too,” explained Yusop, who was from the Signals Corps.

Yusop added that Omar’s other close friend (then Mejar) Ruslan Omar from the Royal Malay Regiment, later went to further his studies at Sudan’s Khartoum University on scholarship.

Royal Navy Lt Kdr (rtd) Hamdan Othman, in recalling Omar’s first official visit to Malaysia in 1991, said he and the other collegemates were amused when the president brushed aside protocol and hugged all of them at their alma mater. Omar apparently had requested going back to Haigate rather than meeting at Carcosa because he wanted to be on “familiar ground”.

“He even made it a point to pay a surprise visit to his old neighbour — outriders and all — in Melawati where he had stayed.”

But not before having a quick drink of coffee at the old warung and saying hello to the stall owners in Keramat where he used to have his nasi campur meals.

Sudah jumpa!

I finally found it!

Ever since I resign from S*N*, I've been missing the food especially the Japanese Food. Seriously. Sangat windu itu Miso Soup. tatau nape. Maybe because dah tak dapat nak makan, so asik ngidam je.

So today, I went out with my 'controversy' (pinjam word nadia jap. hehe... ) to watch Marley & Me. Sesape belum beli buku, sila lah bace. i think the book lagi best dari the movie. the movie tak show sgt kenakalan Marley. Memang ade scene2 nakal tapi cam tak banyak je. plus, scene sedih especially waktu Marley dah tua adalah sangat skit. tak cukup untuk menyedihkan aku lah. selalu sangat lah bile tgk Movie jer mesti kecewa.

Anyhooo, we ate at the food court at The Gardens. 1st time makan kat situ. kat level 2. i saw some of the people were eating the japanese food and i really2 nak sangat sangat. dah kempunan wey. selalu dapat makan is tepanyaki tepanyaki tepanyaki. tu pun kat pavillion.

and, finally i got to eat it!! yeay!!!! sangat lah teruja memakannya. the miso soup memang same serupa sejibik sejibon cam kat canteen A.

the differences are it doesn't have fruits but got tofu and green tea (yucky for me) never like green tean or chinese tea. x sedap langsung. i eat with teriyaki chicken. it is so yummy. next time nak try the others lak.

Alhamdulillah, kenyang saya sampai ke petang...
